Tour de France 2014: Women Push to Compete in Cycling's Top Event

dcycledesign:

I never got caught up in the Tour de France. Not having any interest in the sport left me as an outsider with respect to other male co-workers in the bicycle mechanic world. I despise the tour for many reasons, one of them being that it’s a sexist sport. Bertine explains ”I began this documentary with the assumption it was about women’s professional cycling. A few months in, I realized the film was about equality and society, as told through the medium of cyclists. Half The Road is my hope that someday the whole world will see sports not as “men’s” or “women’s” but as equal athletes on equal playing fields.”  Support Bertine and her documentary Half the Road at halftheroad.com.
